Crunchyroll just told fans when they can watch Kagurabachi, and the answer is ten months from now. The platform confirmed on June 26 that the Weekly Shonen Jump adaptation premieres worldwide in April 2027, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand, backed by a five-country screening tour that starts well before a single full episode airs.
A promotional push built for a ten-month wait
Announcing a premiere date this far out only makes sense if there's a plan to keep the title visible in the meantime, and Crunchyroll has one: the Kagurabachi Anime World Tour Part 1 brings early episode screenings to Anime Expo in Los Angeles, then Japan Expo in Paris, AnimagiC in Germany, Otakon in Washington D.C. and Anime NYC. That's a heavier pre-launch circuit than most manga adaptations get, and it signals how much confidence is riding on the source material's fanbase carrying interest through the gap.
What's actually being adapted
Kagurabachi follows Chihiro Rokuhira, a swordsmith's apprentice whose life is upended when the group Hishaku kills his father and steals six of seven Enchanted Blades, leaving Chihiro with the last one, Enten, and a revenge mission. The manga built its audience on intense sword-fight sequences and a dark, forward-driving story.
Tetsuya Takeuchi directs, with Keigo Sasaki on character design and animation from Cypic, the studio behind Umamusume: Cinderella Gray and The Summer Hikaru Died. Confirmed voice cast includes Taihi Kimura as Chihiro, Tomokazu Seki as his father Kunishige, and Katsuyuki Konishi as Togo Shiba, alongside a new character visual and trailer for Shiba released the same day.
Crunchyroll will stream the series worldwide excluding Japan, Mainland China, North Korea and South Korea. More casting and production news is expected before the April 2027 premiere.
