Why a gaming convention keeps booking a K-pop act
BlizzCon has spent years widening past a pure esports-and-lore audience, and a returning K-pop headliner is part of that. LE SSERAFIM already has a direct tie into Blizzard's ecosystem through a prior Overwatch collaboration, so this isn't a booking pulled in from outside the fandom, it's a group Blizzard's audience already has a reason to know.
The five-member group, SAKURA, KIM CHAEWON, HUH YUNJIN, KAZUHA and HONG EUNCHAE, debuted in 2022 under SOURCE MUSIC (a HYBE label) and has racked up multiple Billboard chart entries since. Blizzard's announcement frames the BlizzCon slot as a lead-in to LE SSERAFIM's upcoming U.S. tour, which gives fans a reason to treat September 13 as a preview stop rather than a one-off.
