Biwin's new M560 SSD hits 11,000 MB/s sequential reads, a number that will saturate exactly nobody doing everyday file operations. The real audience for this PCIe 5.0 NVMe 2.0 drive is narrower than the headline speed suggests: large game library management, 4K/8K video editing, AI model loading or fast boot on a high-end system, the handful of workloads where that kind of throughput is actually the bottleneck.
What makes the M560 different from other Gen 5 drives
The single-sided M.2 2280 design is the more practically useful detail here. Most high-speed Gen 5 drives stack NAND on both sides of the board, which creates clearance problems in small form factor builds or certain laptop M.2 slots. Biwin building the M560 single-sided gives it a real advantage for anyone whose case or laptop can't fit a double-sided card, not just a spec-sheet footnote.
The drive runs a 6nm controller with LDPC error correction, drawing under 5.2W on average, useful in thermally constrained builds. Sequential write speeds reach up to 10,000 MB/s. The 2TB model is rated for 1,500 TBW endurance with a five-year warranty, both competitive for the Gen 5 consumer tier.
The catch: you need a Gen 5 platform
None of this works without a compatible motherboard and CPU. PCIe 5.0 support requires an Intel Core Ultra 200 series, AMD Ryzen 9000 series or equivalent Gen 5-capable chipset, which rules out the M560 for anyone still on a Gen 4 platform looking to upgrade storage without a full rebuild.
Biwin has an established local presence through Image Media Phils, having previously brought the CL100 Mini SSD and RD510 USB 4.0 Reader to the Philippines. Pricing and availability for the M560 in the local market haven't been announced yet.
